8:30 – Trudeau and Trump clashed this week at the NATO Summit in London. Trump called out Trudeau for not meeting Canada’s NATO spending commitments, and things got nasty when Trudeau was caught on camera mocking Trump at a Buckingham Palace event. Trump called Trudeau “two-faced” and departed the summit early, leaving many to wonder whether Trudeau could have handled the situation better. Dr. Brian Lee Crowley, managing director with the Macdonald-Laurier Institute, says he understands why Trudeau did what he did, but says Trudeau needs to be much more guarded, especially when dealing with a leader as volatile as Trump. Crowley joins John now to discuss the tense summit, and how Trudeau can improve Canada’s somewhat-strained relationship with the USA.

12:00 – The provincial government introduced legislation this week aiming to restrict the usage of the “financial planner” and “financial advisor” title, which are currently not restricted in Saskatchewan. The Financial Planners and Financial Advisors Act is modelled on legislation passed in Ontario last spring, and aims to protect consumers by defining the two titles under law and ensuring only those who hold approved credentials can use them. PF Canada has welcomed the new rules, saying the law will improve consumer protection and prevent customers from receiving amateur financial advice from a self-proclaimed professional. Cary List is President and CEO of FP Canada, and he joins Gormley to discuss the changes and the benefits they’ll have.
