The Saskatoon Lighthouse is raising money with a special Christmas concert on Sunday.
Christmas is Coming Home will feature the Saskatoon Symphony Orchestra and a choir of 50 community members. They’ll be playing classic hymns and carols.
Attendees will also see a comedy routine from Duff Warkentin.
Ty McKenzie, the Lighthouse chaplain, told Brent Loucks why this fundraising is important.
“(It’s) all for a good cause, to help the chronic homelessness we have here in Saskatoon,” he said.
“We’re always needing winter clothing, mitts, gloves and toiletries, those kind of things, for those who come to our shelter.”
He said the holidays are particularly tough for the homeless.
“We don’t want to turn people away, (and) we also want to give them that sense of home.”
The show is on Dec. 1 at 7:30 p.m at Cornerstone Church. You can get tickets online here or in person at Kennedy’s Parable.
