8:30 – The NDP opposition have been pressing the provincial government for action after obtaining a memo saying staff are overwhelmed at Regina’s emergency rooms. NDP Leader Ryan Meili said long wait times and treating patients in hallways have become the norm at ERs, and high staff turnover is causing further issues. The NDP pointed to a recent case where a woman was treated for five days in the halls of Regina’s Pasqua Hospital along with six other patients. Vicki Mowat is the NDP’s health critic, and she joins Drew now to discuss the issues and the action she’s hoping to see from the SaskParty government.

10:00 – A student at McGill is asking people to pledge not to have children until the Canadian government takes serious steps to combat climate change. Emma Lim started the “No Future No Children” pledge to encourage lawmakers to take what she feels is the necessary action. Lim says she’s always wanted children, but is giving up the opportunity because she will only have kids if she knows they will grow up safely. So far more than 5,200 people have joined her pledge, and she joins Drew now to discuss the movement.

11:00 – It’s Halloween, and that means everyone’s getting offended about something. From decorations scaring kids, inappropriate costumes, and problematic jack-o-lanterns, it seems like Halloween is quickly becoming one of the most triggering holidays on the calendar. Montreal has even even moved trick-or-treating to Friday because they don’t want kids out in the cold weather!
