A new lottery by the Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital Foundation and the Saskatchewan Roughrider Foundation is geared at making one lucky entrant an instant millionaire.
The Touchdown for Kids Millionaire Lottery begins today, and is expected to raise significant funds for both foundations. The final draw date for the grand prize will be December 19, 2019.
Along with the million-dollar grand prize, 13 brand new vehicles, six vacation packages, 41 unique Roughrider experiences, and thousands of other prizes are also available in the lottery.
An early bird prize of $500,000 will be drawn as well for entrants who purchase tickets before November 25, 2019.
The Saskatchewan Roughrider Foundation will fund amateur sport, education, and health and wellness initiatives for youth in the province with the Touchdown for Kids Millionaire Lottery.
“We’ve been working on (the lot.) for a while, but really intensely here for the last six months,” Board Chair of the Saskatchewan Roughriders Foundation, and the teams President and CEO Craig Reynolds. “We’ve been wanting to work closely with the Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital Foundation for a number of years, and we’ve been exploring ways to do that. When this concept came up, we both really liked it. We’re excited to announce it today.”
Reynolds said the revenues from the Touchdown for Kids Millionaire Lottery would be a “true partnership,” and be split 50/50 between the two charities.
The newly formed Saskatchewan Roughriders Foundation will act as the “charitable arm,” for the organization, supporting the club’s existing charitable causes in a “bigger and more substantial way,” according to Reynolds.
The Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital Foundation will look to raise funds for the enhancement of maternal and children’s healthcare in Saskatchewan.
“It’s one thing to build a new children’s hospital for the province, it’s another to ensure that it’s sustainable,” said Brynn Boback-Lane, CEO of the Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital. “This initiative will help to fund (new) initiatives, new programs, new pieces of equipment that inevitably over time will need to be replaced. When you build something, you have to sustain it.”
Tickets are on sale until December 11, and range in cost between $75 for one, to $425 for 18.
