8:30 – On Thursday, Public Safety Minister Ralph Goodale Tweeted a video showing Andrew Scheer speaking against same-sex marriage in 2005, calling on the CPC leader to “end his lifelong boycott of Pride events and explain whether he would still deny same-sex couples the right to marry, as he said in Parliament.” Toronto Sun Columnist Brian Lilley says Goodale and the Liberals are forgetting their own record (which included Goodale himself voting against same-sex marriage a few years prior) and ignoring Scheer’s more recent statements on same-sex marriage. Lilley joins John now to discuss the video and the tone it sets for the upcoming election campaign.

10:00 – Saskatchewan’s first-ever supervised drug use site has been approved by Health Canada, and is set to open in a few months’ time. Addictions Counsellor Rand Teed says it could be helpful as long as the goal is to get addicts into recovery, and the site should be questioned if it makes it easier for people to stay in addiction. Teed says many believe addiction is a choice and people will seek treatment when they are ready, but he believes addictions damage the ability to think clearly and it’s always easiest to just continue to use drugs. Teed joins John now to discuss the Saskatoon site and what needs to be done to pull people out of their spirals of addiction.
