The mayor of Warman won’t be running for re-election.
Sheryl Spence has been the city’s mayor since 2006. She started her career in politics as a city councillor in 2000.
She told Brent Loucks she thinks it’s the right time to move on.
“It has been a great opportunity for myself, and I’ve learned so much over those years, but it’ll be 20 years. So I think, at 20 years, it’s time for me to look at doing something different,” she said.
Spence said she looks forward to seeing someone new in office.
“I encourage other people to take on that role, especially women,” she said.
The next provincewide municipal election is scheduled for October of 2020.
