8:30 – Twenty-two construction electricians had their certificates suspended by the Sask. Apprenticeship and Trade Certification Commission for academic misconduct that took place at the Moose Jaw campus of Saskatchewan Polytechnic between 2015 and 2018. According to the provincial government, the trade students obtained access to restricted course materials during technical training, including level exams and Red Seal interprovincial certification exams. The Saskatchewan Apprenticeship and Trade Certification Commission is now taking steps to prevent similar cheating in the future, including videotaping all exams and auditing the footage to ensure all protocols are being followed. Commission CEO Jeff Ritter joins John to discuss the rash of cheating and how they’re preventing it from happening again.
