Saskatoon’s Scotiabank Theatre will be showing every game of the NBA Finals for free.
Cineplex and Maple Leafs Sports and Entertainment teamed up to bring the fan experience to 33 theatres across Canada, including the one in Saskatoon.
Admission for every game will be free. Cineplex’s executive director of communications, Sarah Van Lange, said Wednesday that the theatre wanted to bring the fans an experience as close to “Jurassic Park” outside of Toronto’s Scotiabank Arena as possible.
“We know that the Raptors have fans across Canada, so this is an opportunity for us all to rally behind Canada’s team,” Van Lange said.
Tickets are available for pickup only at the box office. Two tickets are available per person, and tickets for all of the first four games will be available to pick up at 6 p.m., on Wednesday.
Van Lange said there won’t be a worry when it comes to fans being loud and cheering on the team in the soundproofed theatres.
“Going to the movies is ultimately a very social experience, just as watching the big game is,” Van Lange said. “We’re confident our guests are going to have a good time regardless of if they’re watching one of our movies in one auditorium and watching the screening parties in the other.”
Game 1 of the NBA Finals between the Raptors and Golden State Warriors is set for Thursday at 7 p.m. local time.
