8:30 – With the anniversary of the Humboldt Broncos crash tomorrow, the push for better trucking regulations and safety standards has been top-of-mind for many. Pattie Fair, a safety advocate who lost her husband Stephen Babij in a 2017 crash involving an inexperienced trucker, wants mandatory federal training for all truckers. She’s started a petition calling for changes to the trucking industry that’s gathered more than 5,400 signatures, and has been endorsed by the Humboldt Broncos and many of the families affected by the April 6 crash. Fair joins John now to discuss the push for safer roadways in Canada.

11:00 – We heard a lot about the Regina Rally Against the Carbon Tax Thursday, as they led a convoy through the Queen City in protest of the federal carbon pricing scheme, but not everyone was happy about the rally and Premier Scott Moe’s decision to speak to those in attendance. In the legislature this week, NDP Leader Ryan Meili was strongly critical of the rally’s organizers, including Jason LeBlanc, for having previous associations with the Yellow Vest movement. Meili joins John now to discuss his objections to the rally and give his thoughts on Saskatchewan’s newly-imposed carbon tax.

12:00 – Polar bears have often been included in alarmist predictions about climate change. While the global temperature has risen in recent years, the polar bears have not been devastated as many predicted. Author and zoologist Susan Crockford argues the opposite may be true. Her new book “The Polar Bear Catastrophe that Never Happened” puts forward her theory that – in contrast to the catastrophic predictions made by Al Gore and other alarmists over the years – the polar bear population is thriving. The International Union for Conservation of Nature’s Polar Bear Specialist Group estimates the polar bear population to be 25,000, but Crockford criticizes that number and claims their estimate is low to avoid contradicting previous predictions. Crockford joins John now to discuss her book.
