8:30 – Despite a number of workers crossing the picket lines and returning to their jobs, the strike at the Saskatoon Co-op may be continuing for a while. According to Co-op management, they met with the union Friday to continue negotiations but the union rejected their counter-proposal and walked away from negotiations. UFCW 1400 released a statement Friday saying Co-op management refused to continue bargaining unless their proposal was accepted. As a result, the union has invited management to engage in binding arbitration. John is joined by Saskatoon Co-op CEO Grant Wicks to get the latest on the strike and the negotiations.

10:00 – Prof. Duane Bratt, chair of the department of economics, justice, and policy studies at Mount Royal University, has written a new book analyzing NDP Premier Rachel Notley’s victory in the 2015 Alberta election. With the next election looming and a lot at stake, Prof. Bratt says his analysis of the 2015 election gives insight into the next one. He joins John now to talk about his book and Notley’s chances against Jason Kenney (SP?) when Alberta heads to the polls.

12:00 – The story of a man’s failed attempt to get a personalized Saskatchewan licence plate made international headlines late last week. Dave Assman says he’s not ashamed of his German-derived surname, and tried to have a personal plate made reading “ASSMAN.” The request was denied by SGI, much to Assman’s disappointment. We’re joined by SGI spokesperson Tyler McMurchy to explain the rules around vanity plates and why SGI was forced to deny Assman’s request.
