8:30 – A Globe and Mail scoop is sending shockwaves through Ottawa. The story, published Thursday, indicated the Prime Minister’s office directed then-justice minister Jody Wilson-Raybauld to abandon prosecution of Montreal-based engineering and construction firm SNC-Lavalin. Justin Trudeau has denied directing Wilson-Raybauld to drop the prosecution, but wouldn’t say whether his office attempted to influence her in that direction before moving her out of the role in a recent cabinet shuffle. Wilson-Raybauld isn’t commenting at all, and some speculate she was the Globe’s source for the story. Global News’ chief political correspondent David Akin joins the show now to discuss the reactions to the bombshell story and what could happen next.
