For the past three decades, SGI and Saskatoon Transit have partnered to provide free bus rides on New Year’s Eve.
It’s back again this year, but the free rides will run all day Monday.

“Having free transit service on New Year’s Eve removes a barrier when making decisions on how to get home after a night out,” Saskatoon Transit Director Jim McDonald said in a media release.
The free service is set to run until 3 a.m. Tuesday depending on route times.
“There is no reason for impaired driving, especially on New Year’s Eve,” McDonald said.
According to SGI, impaired driving continues to be the leading cause of death on Saskatchewan roads.
The Crown corporation said 39 per cent of traffic deaths in 2017 involved alcohol or drug impairment.
The city is encouraging people to plan a ride home ahead of your night out including the free bus ride, taxis, or having a designated driver.
