I’ve been thinking about those who “protect and serve” a lot lately.
Wednesday family and friends of Bruce Gordon will pay their respects in Saskatoon. After a major junior hockey career, Gordon spent nearly 30 years as a member of the Saskatoon Police Service.
I asked a good friend of his, how he would best describe Bruce and the word he used was “fearless”. Fearless on the ice, fearless in uniform and fearless in battling cancer.
Fearless describes Saskatoon officers who were confronted by a man with a weapon in the downtown last week. Fearless describes the Edmonton police officer who fought off an attacker outside of an Eskimos game on the weekend. Fearless describes officers and first responders in Las Vegas who endured minutes of gun fire to help save lives.
Thank goodness we have those on this planet who are fearless, so we can live our lives.
