JAMIE NYE

Jamie Nye grew up in Lumsden as a diehard fan of the Roughriders and a with passion for sports.

After graduating from the U of R with a journalism degree, Jamie started down the path that would lead him to the Green Zone. It detoured through Edmonton, where he was a sideline reporter for Edmonton Eskimos broadcasts.

But his heart remained in Saskatchewan. He returned in 2011, to tell the stories that matter to fans here, and talk to them each day as host of the #1 sports show in Saskatchewan, “The Green Zone.”

Jamie’s never forgotten what it’s like to be the small-town kid watching the big games. When Taylor Field was knocked down, his heartfelt commentary on the end of an era won a national award for Best Radio Commentary.

Jamie can be observed gnashing his teeth over the latest heartbreak of being a Vancouver Canucks fan, an Oakland Raiders fan, and kind of a Toronto Blue Jays fan.

For fun, Jamie loves travelling with no plan. “Pick a spot and figure it out when we get there by asking locals or finding a brochure at a local cafe.”

His guilty pleasure is reality TV.

But his favourite reality TV is witnessing sports history. “Remarkable comebacks, Joe Carter’s walk-off home run, Donovan Bailey’s 100m gold medal or Sidney Crosby’s golden goal are the reason I love doing what I do. The post-game show after the 2013 Grey Cup was the most fun I’ve had on the radio in my career because it was not only sports history but Saskatchewan history.”

Most of all, Jamie is a proud dad of two who loves to spend time with his family.

DREW REMENDA

Born and raised in Saskatoon, Drew has been active in hockey circles most of his life. Drew started his coaching career in Saskatoon Minor Hockey.

He moved through the SJHL, then to Alberta and worked for Saskatchewan coaching legend, Dave King, with Canada’s National team. At the same time, working as an Assistant Coach at the University of Calgary with another Saskatchewan favourite, Willie Desjardins. This set the stage for Drew’s life altering opportunity to make the jump to the NHL with the expansion San Jose Sharks.

Drew was an assistant coach for the San Jose Sharks for four years. The Sharks lost 100 games quicker than any team in history, but in just their third year they made the playoffs and upset the Detroit Red Wings – a moment Drew regards as one of the best in his career.

After a year as Associate Coach with the Sharks farm team, Drew took advantage of his ability to talk, and launched a new career. He joined the San Jose Sharks broadcasting team and spent 15 years in the broadcast booth. First on radio, then moving to TV. During that time on television, Remenda and his play-by-play partner, Randy Hahn, earned five local Emmy Awards for their work.

During those years, Drew also co-hosted a sports show on CJME (CKOM) with Jamie Nye. After bringing his TV career back to Canada with Hockey Night in Canada and Sportsnet, Drew is now back home to stay, in Saskatchewan and on the Green Zone.

Drew knows hockey and many of the people in hockey. He brings that unique access to the inside story and his own perspective to the show. He’s a big fan of MMA and boxing, and tries to stay sharp working out at a martial arts studio.

A proud husband and father of three, Drew is now an especially proud grandfather – but it hasn’t blunted those opinions… he’s funny, ruthlessly honest and a great storyteller.
