Man charged after allegedly evading cops in stolen vehicle
A 50-year-old man is facing charges after allegedly fleeing from police in a stolen vehicle on Monday.
Police said officers spotted “a vehicle known to be stolen” on Avenue B North just before 8 p.m.
“When they attempted to conduct a traffic stop, the driver fled. The vehicle was located a few minutes later, abandoned, in an alley near 29th Street West and Avenue J North,” the police force explained in a statement.
“A canine track located a female and a male hiding in two separate back yards.”
Police said they determined that the man was the one behind the wheel. He’s now facing charges of dangerous driving, evading police, operating a vehicle while prohibited, possession of stolen property over $5,000 and breaching court-imposed conditions.
“He was transported to hospital for treatment of injuries consistent with a dog bite before being taken to SPS Detention,” police noted.
