A similar issue was reported at the Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport in Montreal, though the airport there noted that the issue was resolved just before 8 a.m.
Airports in Toronto, Ottawa and Calgary also reported issues with WestJet’s systems on Tuesday morning.
Delays in Regina
Travellers in Regina said there were some delays on their flights.
Daniel Rousseau, who flew into Regina from Calgary, said his flight was delayed on Tuesday, but he said that’s become commonplace for air travel.
“It’s been part of the summer. This, for me, is delays upon delays of different flights. Not only WestJet,” he said.
He said while the delay was unfortunate, it’s not the longest wait he’s had in recent months.
“This one was not too long. I’ve seen worse – two days – and that’s just this summer,” said Rousseau.
Cathy Richlen-Tilden is another airline traveller who ran into some bumps along her journey.
She and her wife flew into Regina from Nanaimo, B.C., and she said their flight was outright cancelled.
“They said there’d be a delay, and then they didn’t say much more than that. And then they came back later and said there’s some kind of an I.T. delay and it’s across the whole airport,” she said.
“WestJet was great. I mean, they got us in a hotel and they gave us food vouchers and so forth, but it just made for a pretty exhausting trip. And we’ve all got things to do now, and my wife doesn’t get to go to work today because she’s too exhausted.”
