Thursday was the first day of the 140th Saskatoon Exhibition and families got to take in all the excitement on the grounds at Prairieland Park.
The lines weren’t too long, which allowed families to ride as many rides as they wanted.

“The kids have already been on four rides,” said Steph Canning.
Canning also said they were excited to get their hands on some Exhibition food.
“The kids already have their spud nuts,” she said. “They were pretty excited for the spud.”
Simone Kulshreshtha and her family were able to have some fun inside, getting out of the warm sun.
“It helps that we’re breaking it up with shows, the stroller is super helpful because it’s got a shade,” she said. “After this, we’re going to a SuperDogs (show), so that’ll be nice and cool there.”
The shows were so important to attend that Kulshreshtha said she worked the day around it.
“I did make a schedule for Paw Patrol, Gabby’s doll house (and) the dog show,” she said.
Kulshreshtha also said coming on the first day was intentional.
“Everything is great, I did pick the first day because I thought maybe it would be the least busy,” she said. “The weather’s perfect, everything’s been going great and everything seems set up without a hitch.”
While she and her family are only doing one day, they’re making sure it’s action-packed.
“We’re planning on staying all day till the concert, we thought Metric was a good band to see,” Kulshreshtha said.
With that comes getting on as many rides as possible.
“I really like the ones that you run through, and then there’s the jungle drip one,” she said. “The Ferris wheel, of course, and my son really likes the little baby coasters.”
As for the food of choice, Kulshreshtha said it had to be the elephant ears.
Amanda Marion and her family had two food items that they wanted to check off.
“We get the spud nuts, but we want to try that pickle dog,” she said.
As for whether coming on the first day was on purpose, Marion said it was so the lines would be shorter.
“The lineups aren’t that bad today,” she said.
