The Saskatchewan RCMP says officers will continue to investigate the disappearance of a woman who has been missing for seven years.
Ashley Morin, a 31-year-old woman from the Ahtahkakoop Cree Nation, was last seen on July 10, 2018 in North Battleford. An awareness walk for Morin is set to begin at 11 a.m. on Thursday, starting at the Gold Eagle Casino and proceeding down Highway 16 to end at the North Battleford Library.

The RCMP said Morin’s disappearance is being investigated as a homicide, and promised Morin’s family that officers will not stop their investigation until they have answers.
“To Ashley’s loved ones: Investigators will continue to pursue leads and analyze evidence until we determine what happened to your daughter, granddaughter, sister, auntie, cousin and friend,” Ashley St. Germaine, an senior investigative officer with the Saskatchewan RCMP’s major crimes branch, said in a statement.
“And to the individual, or individuals, responsible for Ashley’s disappearance: We will not stop investigating until you’re held accountable, and we can tell Ashley’s loved ones what happened to her.”
Last month, the RCMP said officers had started searching waterways in the Battlefords area for any signs of the missing woman.
“Since Ashley disappeared nearly seven years ago, investigators have continuously followed up on numerous leads,” superintendent Josh Graham, the officer in charge of the Saskatchewan RCMP’s Major Crimes Branch, said in a statement issued in June.

“Searching the river is another step in our investigation to find out what happened to Ashley and hold the person, or persons, who took Ashley away from her family accountable.”
Anyone with information on Morin’s disappearance was urged to contact police or submit a tip anonymously through Crime Stoppers.
“The Battlefords is a small, tight-knit community. We know people have information about Ashley’s disappearance, and we want to encourage them to report it to police – even the smallest detail could make a difference,” Graham added.
“Advancements in this investigation wouldn’t be possible without community members coming forward. What you know could help us provide closure to Ashley’s family and friends.”
The RCMP said drivers in the North Battleford area may encounter trafficc delays due to the awareness walk.
“Please slow down, use caution when passing pedestrians near the roadway and follow police instructions,” the RCMP said.
