A 32-year-old man is facing charges after leading police on a chase through the city on Wednesday morning.
Just before 8 a.m., Saskatoon police reported that a F550 was doing sewer work in the area of Wiggins Avenue South and Cascade Street when a man stole the vehicle.
Police found the vehicle, but said the man refused to stop.

According to police, while the chase continued, the driver attempted, and in two cases, successfully hit police vehicles.
“During the incident, two members discharged their service-issued firearm,” it said in a release.

The incident on Wednesday morning prompted a massive police response, with numerous police vehicles and an armoured vehicle seen racing to the scene with their lights and sirens activated. (Submitted)
The suspect took the southbound exit off Circle Drive onto the Valley Road off ramp when it was intentionally struck by a police vehicle and toppled over.
The man was freed from the vehicle, but according to police, “was not compliant with officers.”
The man was taken into custody just after 8:30 a.m. and was taken to hospital for injuries “consistent with a dog bite.”
Suspect involved in earlier incident
According to police, following an investigation, the same suspect was also involved in an incident before the chase.
At around 6:40 a.m., the man allegedly assaulted a taxi driver, stole their vehicle and then hit a convenience store in the 1500 block of 22nd Street.

The man stole an undisclosed amount of money from the store and sprayed bear spray before leaving on foot.
On Thursday morning, police said the man is now facing charges including four counts of assaulting a police officer with a weapon, four counts of robbery, two counts of hit and run, assault with a weapon, mischief over $5,000, theft of a motor vehicle, evading police, impaired driving, dangerous driving, breaching a release order and breaching probation.
He’s set to appear in court on Thursday afternoon.

Police glad no one was hurt
Specific details about what took place Wednesday morning were very hard to come by as officers said they were continuing their investigation.
Kelsie Fraser, a spokesperson for the Saskatoon Police Service, said the chase lasted for approximately 39 minutes and that the man drove dangerously through school zones, residential neighbourhoods and downtown at a very busy time of day.
“We’re thankful that this turned out the way that it did, and that there weren’t injuries reported or associated with that — either civilian or police officer,” Fraser said.
Since shots were fired by officers, the police force notified the Saskatchewan Serious Incident Response Team.
But since no shots hit the victim, police said they will continue to lead the investigation.
“They will investigate when a person is seriously injured or fatally injured either in police custody or as a result of police action, and that wasn’t the case here. For now, our serious assault unit is taking the lead in the investigation,” Fraser said.
