That led to several firearms charges against 39-year-old Calvin Longworth, but police said he failed to attend a court date and a warrant was issued for his arrest.
But the case didn’t end there.
“During the firearms investigation, police executed search warrants for several electronic devices that were seized,” the Moose Jaw Police Service explained in a statement.
“During the search of the electronic devices, police discovered child pornography.”
After a new investigation by the Saskatchewan Internet Child Exploitation Unit – a joint task force made up of RCMP and municipal police officers across the province – Longworth was also charged with making child pornography, accessing and possessing child pornography, sexual assault, sexual interference, invitation to sexual touching and arranging to commit a sexual offence against a child.
Police asked anyone with information on Longworth’s whereabouts to contact the Moose Jaw Police Service or make a report through Crime Stoppers.
