According to Environment Canada, a low-pressure system over central Alberta is expected to create some significant storms on Wednesday, which could lead to a heightened risk of tornadoes late in the afternoon.
In addition to the tornado watch, a severe thunderstorm watch was issued, with the warning area covering Kindersley, Moose Jaw, Biggar, Rosetown, Outlook and Davidson, and stretching south to the U.S. border.
The severe thunderstorm watch was upgraded to a warning Wednesday afternoon in some RMs, like Eagle Creek, Fertile Valley, Glenside, Redberry, Rudy and Val Marie.

“In the event of a tornado, or if a tornado warning is issued for your area, it is recommended you take the following actions: Go indoors to a room on the lowest floor, away from outside walls and windows, such as a basement, bathroom, stairwell or interior closet,” Environment Canada explained.
“Leave mobile homes, vehicles, tents, trailers and other temporary or free-standing shelter, and move to a strong building if you can. As a last resort, lie in a low spot and protect your head from flying debris.”
Saskatchewan has had a busy tornado season so far, with eight twisters reported on June 19. Environment Canada has since confirmed that four of them touched down, causing serious damage to at least one farmhouse.
A tornado watch was also issued in southwestern Saskatchewan on Tuesday afternoon.
