A man is facing charges after allegedly trying to break into a suite at a Saskatoon hotel on Saturday.
According to police, officers were called to the Eighth Street hotel at around 7:30 p.m. after getting a report that a man was “attempting to forcefully enter a suite while holding a gun.”

Police said the man fled the scene after he was unable to get inside, and officers caught up with him and arrested him on Victoria Avenue South.
“The firearm in question was also located and seized,” the police force noted in a statement.
The 32-year-old man is now facing two gun charges, as well as a charge of attempting to break and enter in order to commit a crime.
Suspect allegedly breaks windshield of police vehicle
A 37-year-old man was arrested on Saturday evening after allegedly breaking the windshield of a police vehicle with a glass jug.
According to police, officers were called to the intersection of 22nd Street East and Third Avenue South at around 9 p.m. after getting a report that a man had struck a vehicle with a crowbar and “assaulted the passenger of the vehicle with a modified weapon before fleeing.”
A bicycle officer caught up with the suspect a block away, but he fled on foot.
“Patrol officers relocated the suspect at Spadina Crescent East and 20th Street East,” the police force said in a statement.
“Upon confronting the suspect, he threw a glass jug at the Patrol Car, breaking the windshield before attempting to flee, again. The suspect was apprehended nearby with the use of a conducted energy weapon.”
Police said the man was believed to be intoxicated at the time of his arrest.
“On his person, Police located a crowbar and a sock filled with rocks,” police noted. “He was assessed by paramedics and medically cleared prior to being transported to SPS Detention.”
The man is now facing charges of assaulting a peace officer with a weapon, assault with a weapon, resisting arrest, possession of break-and-enter tools, mischief and breach of probation.
No injuries were reported.
