Over the May long weekend, Melfort RCMP responded to a report of a firearms discharge on James Smith Cree Nation, which is around 70 km east of Prince Albert.
This happened during the early hours of Saturday. Officers responded and located an injured man at a home. EMS took him to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries consistent with a gunshot wound.

Following an investigation, it was determined that the suspects entered the home between 11:30 p.m. on May 16 and 2:30 a.m. on May 17 with firearms.
They threatened the people in the home, shot and injured a man and assaulted other adults.
Later that afternoon, Melfort RCMP, Saskatchewan RCMP’s Critical Incident Response Team (CIRT) and officers from Tisdale RCMP Detachment and Combined Traffic Services Saskatchewan (CTSS) responded to reports of people with firearms outside a home on the First Nation.
Officers believed these suspects were connected to the incident earlier that day.
Officers located a vehicle and arrested a man and two women. During a search of the vehicle, officers found an extendable baton and brass knuckles.
A 27-year-old man from Nipawin was arrested and served a handful of charges like break and enter and assault with a weapon. It was also determined he was wanted on a Regina Police Service warrant for being unlawfully at large.
The two 27-year-old women, both from James Smith Cree Nation, were charged with break and enter, possession of a weapon, robbery with a firearm and possession of a prohibited firearm.
One woman was also charged with pointing a firearm. The other woman was also charged with assault with a weapon.
Melfort RCMP are also seeking to locate another woman believed to be connected to the incident.
At this stage in the investigation, Melfort RCMP do not believe this incident was random.
