Now it is 2025, New Year’s resolutions will be at the top of many people’s minds.
A very popular resolution each and every year for lots of people is to go to the gym.
Saskatoon Motion Fitness personal trainer Clinton Chiccone was on CKOM Morning Show on Tuesday and said that every January, there is always an influx of new clients.
“Usually, we see people start up all excited to go in January. February, numbers usually go down a little bit, but I will say, the last year or so, I’ve seen a lot more consistency. So those that start in January tend to stick with it longer.”
He said that when people have a personal trainer, it often helps hold them accountable to continue showing up.
“Sometimes it’s tough to stay motivated, and honestly, I see my job as a motivator as well as an instructor and trainer.”
If you are nervous about going to the gym, Chiccone said to remember that there is nothing to be afraid of.
“Everybody who is in the gym had a starting point at some time, and everybody’s gone through that,” he said.
“Remember, no one else is judging you. Everybody is working on improving themselves, and that’s your goal as well. One day, you might be the person that a new client comes to and sees as that professional.”
Chiccone suggested talking to the staff at the front to make the gym less intimidating.
“The next thing you can do starting with a trainer, we start very basic work through forms, get a sense of what your goals are, and then we can walk you through a program.”
