Residential grading wraps up in Saskatoon

City crews have wrapped up the major project that saw streets graded in every residential neighbourhood in the city.

While some streets had to be skipped due to limited access – largely due to parked vehicles – the city said graders will now return to complete the work in those areas, as well as back lanes and industrial areas.

“Temporary parking restrictions will be in place when crews return to finish the work if needed,” the city explained in a statement. “This work is expected to be completed by early next week.”

Snow removal on priority streets, which is done to improve storage space and visibility on high-traffic roads, restarted on Thursday, and the city said that work will continue until it is complete.

“Crews are also continuing to inspect, salt and sand priority streets, as well as local streets, based on reports of icy conditions,” the city noted. “If another snow event occurs, resources will be redirected to respond.”

A statement from the city added that all three of Saskatoon’s city-run snow storage sites are currently active “and will remain operational as long as conditions permit.”

The city thanked residents for their patience during the big project.
