For Murray Wood, Easter brings to mind grandma's practical advice about repurposing, and some of life's little lessons.
A Saskatoon-based metal recycling company has made a large donation to help out a local hospital.
On Wednesday, Inland Steel Products Inc. announced a $100,000 donation to help pay for upgrades at the Cardiac Catheterization Lab at Royal University Hospital.
The lab allows cardiac doctors to perform minimally invasive procedures and treatments that can prevent heart attacks and address issues like clogged arteries.

The Royal University Hospital Foundation is working to raise $2.6 million for the upgrade, as the lab’s two suites are currently at full capacity, with more than 3,200 patients visiting each year. The older of the two suites is also nearing the end of its lifespan, having been used since 2013.
“Our interventional cardiology team is grateful for the support of Inland Steel Products in helping ensure we have the most modern technology and equipment available for diagnosing and treating some of the most life-threatening cardiac diseases,” Dr. Jason Orvold, the lab’s medical director, said in a statement.
Matt Ditlove, the company’s CEO, said Inland Steel Products – which is based in Saskatoon but operates six facilities in Saskatchewan and Alberta – has a history of giving back in the communities where it operates.
“We are thrilled to support enhanced cardiac care in Saskatoon,” Ditlove said in a statement.
