An inmate has died while serving his sentence at the Saskatchewan Penitentiary near Prince Albert.
Correctional Service Canada (CSC) confirmed in a release that Rocky Meechance died while in custody on Monday.
Meechance was serving a sentence of two years 11 months and 18 days for several offences, including flight from a peace officer, breaking and entering, and operating a vehicle while prohibited.
His family has been notified of his passing.
The cause of death wasn’t released. The CSC will now review the circumstances and notify local police and the coroner.
