An employee of the Lloydminster Public School Division was fired – and subsequently charged by police – after allegedly stealing nearly $8,000 last June.
The Ministry of Education included that loss in its report on public losses for the first quarter of the 2023-24 fiscal year, which ran from Sept. 1 to Nov. 30.
According to a release, the loss occurred in June when the employee allegedly stole a deposit containing cash and cheques totalling $7,846.
“The employee has been terminated from their position,” the release said. “The matter was reported to the RCMP and charges have been laid.”
