A Saskatchewan construction company has been hit with a fine for failing to pay a worker’s wages.
According to the Ministry of Labour Relations and Workplace Safety, Langman Contracting Inc. and its corporate directors, Graeme Langman and Vaughn Langman, were charged in August with violating the province’s Employment Act by failing to pay wages within 14 days of the end of employment.

On Jan. 11, the Lafleche-based company pleaded guilty to the violation in a provincial courtroom in Assiniboia, and the charges against the corporate directors were withdrawn.
The company was fined $1,000 with a $400 victim surcharge for a total of $1,400. The unpaid wages were also collected, the ministry noted.
