A Regina-area contractor is facing a fraud charge after allegedly taking off with 48 deposits adding up to more than a quarter of a million dollars without performing the work.
Police said the first report came in June of 2022, saying a contractor had provided an estimate and accepted a deposit payment but failed to complete the repairs as agreed and didn’t give back the deposit.

“Between June 2022 and December 2023, police received 48 similar reports involving the same contractor,” the police service said in a statement. “The incidents occurred between April 2021 and June 2022 and the total reported loss to the victims was over $258,000.”
Last Wednesday, the police service’s Financial Crimes Unit arrested 43-year-old Joseph Alan Myers, a resident of Estlin. He’s now facing a charge of fraud over $5,000, and was released from custody ahead of a court appearance next month.
