Weather records are falling like dominoes in Saskatchewan.
The province has been enjoying warm Pacific air brought in by El Niño, which has led to a lack of snow and temperatures well above freezing for much of Saskatchewan.
Environment Canada said 10 communities around the province broke all-time temperature records on Wednesday.
Among the records to fall was Estevan, which hit 9.7 C to break the Dec. 6 record set all the way back in 1907.
Here are the other communities that temperature records on Wednesday, with the previous records also included:
- Assiniboia, 12.9 C (9 C set in 1987)
- Coronach, 14.4 C (8.7 C set in 2020)
- Cypress Hills, 11.6 C (10.4 C set in 2020)
- Lucky Lake, 8 C (7.6 C set in 2015)
- Maple Creek, 16.4 C (15 C set in 193)
- Melfort, 4.9 C (4 C set in 2011)
- Rockglen, 11.6 C (7.1 C set in 201)
- Swift Current, 12.8 C (12.2 C set in 1939)
- Yorkton, 6.9 C (4.8 C set in 2020)
Although above-freezing temperatures are expected to end Thursday, the weather agency is forecasting temperatures to remain above normal or close to normal throughout the weekend.
