Wakaw’s arena has the green light to reopen.
The town’s Jubilee Arena was closed early last week when multiple children at a under-15 hockey tournament became sick due to carbon monoxide poisoning.
The town purchased new parts for the arena’s Zamboni ice resurfacer and installed a new furnace, as both were identified as potential sources of the carbon monoxide.
Mike Markowski, Wakaw’s mayor, confirmed that the Saskatchewan Health Authority inspected the arena and gave the all clear to reopen the facility on Wednesday afternoon.
All scheduled events at the arena are expected to go ahead as planned.
