Saskatoon police believe they have cracked a cold case.
On Tuesday, police said they had charged two men in connection with the 2006 killing of 31-year-old Darren Greschuk.
A 48-year-old man was arrested in Penticton, B.C., and charged with second-degree murder, while a 45-year-old Saskatoon man is facing a charge of manslaughter.
Just after 4 a.m. on July 8, 2006, Greschuk called 9-1-1 after being shot in his home by an unknown suspect.
“He reported that he and his wife had been sleeping in their home on Avenue J South, when a man with a gun entered their home and demanded money,” said a police media release from the time of the incident. “His wife managed to escape and hide until police arrived.”
Greschuk was taken to hospital, where he died on July 23, 2006.
The accused appeared in Saskatoon Provincial Court on Tuesday.
