Saskatoon police say one of their officers was hurt while bringing a suspect to the police station on Tuesday.
According to police, the officer was assaulted while processing a man in detention.
Police were called around 11:40 a.m. to the 3300 block of 33rd Street West by paramedics who were attempting to medically assess an uncooperative man believed to be under the influence of an intoxicant. He was arrested for public intoxication.
While being processed, police said the man aggressively advanced towards and intentionally struck a constable in the face causing minor injury.
As a result, the 31-year-old man has been charged with assaulting a police officer.
