Saskatoon police chief Troy Cooper jokes that he’s got the “easiest job in the building.”
Speaking with John Gormley on Thursday, Cooper shed some light on what happened to him about three weeks ago after a brief news release was issued by the police service about his health.
“Saskatoon Police Chief Troy Cooper is currently recovering after a medical emergency this week,” read the release. “On April 17, 2023, Chief Cooper was taken to hospital for a medical emergency.”
While he didn’t go into detail about his health, Cooper explained that he suffered a heart attack.
“I don’t do a lot of physical work, so I did have a heart attack a couple weeks ago,” he explained.
Cooper said there was some rest required after his treatment, but as of Thursday he was back at work and at his desk.
“It’s nice to be back,” he added.
The police service said operations were not affected by Cooper’s absence.
