Some schools in northeast Saskatoon went into what police called “a perimeter lockdown” Friday morning after reports of a man carrying a gun.
Police subsequently deemed the call to be a false alarm, saying in a release the man was “in a position authorized to carry a firearm.” The lockdowns of the schools were subsequently lifted.
According to police, officers responded at about 9 a.m., to the area of Kloppenburg Way near Kloppenburg Link after the call came in.
Police said nearby schools were immediately placed into a perimeter lockdown. The police release didn’t identify the schools, but Sylvia Fedoruk School and St. Nicholas Catholic School are in the vicinity.
