Police in Saskatoon arrested an 18-year-old man who was allegedly brandishing a fake gun in the city’s downtown core Thursday.
According to police, officers responded to the 200 block of First Avenue South at 5 p.m., after receiving a report of a man waving a firearm in a public place.
Officers arrived quickly, police said, and the armed man was identified based on witness descriptions. He was arrested after what police described as a “brief struggle,” and an imitation firearm was allegedly found inside his backpack.
Police said the teen is now facing a number of charges, including carrying a concealed weapon and carrying an imitation weapon dangerous to public peace.
