An inmate at Pine Grove Correctional Centre in Prince Albert was found unresponsive in her cell Friday morning, and was declared deceased.
The woman was declared dead at about 8:45 a.m. and was treated by EMS workers called by corrections staff.
Prince Albert police and the Saskatchewan Coroner’s Service have been notified of the death, and are investigating.
The Ministry of Corrections, Policing and Public Safety will be doing an internal investigation as well.
The ministry said the death was not related to COVID-19.
Attempts are being made to notify the next of kin.
