Two charges against a well-known Saskatoon-area First Nations chief have been stayed.
Whitecap Dakota First Nation Chief Darcy Murray Bear was charged on April 13 with common assault and mischief in connection with two incidents on Sept. 25.
The 54-year-old was initially scheduled to be in court Tuesday for a plea.
According to court documents, the first charge involved a woman and the second involved alleged damage to patio furniture at the Dakota Dunes Resort.
On Monday morning, the charges were stayed in Saskatoon Provincial Court. According to the Crown, the matter is now considered concluded.
Bear has been the chief of the Whitecap Dakota First Nation since 1993.
