A 65-year-old man from the Ochapowace First Nation is dead after a train and a vehicle collided Sunday near Waldron, a village about 30 kilometres southeast of Melville.
The Melville RCMP said the crash happened at around 4:45 p.m., at a rail crossing on Highway 9 east of Waldron.
The driver of the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene. The RCMP didn’t release the man’s name.
Three youths who were passengers in the vehicle were taken to hospital with injuries, but the RCMP didn’t provide information about their conditions. No one on the train was hurt.
A Saskatchewan RCMP collision reconstructionist is trying to determine what happened.
