The gates at Optimist Hill opened at 11 a.m. Saturday in Saskatoon’s Diefenbaker Park.
To celebrate the start of the new season, opening day is sponsored by Conexus Credit Union with lift pass and hot chocolate giveaways.
COVID restrictions are still in place at the hill.
Rules in a document, last updated in November, show everyone must wear a mask in indoor spaces, like the chalet. Masks are strongly encouraged outside.
People can try the tubing, skiing and snowboarding hills until 8 p.m. Saturday.
Weather depending, the hill will be open through the holidays, with the exception of Christmas Day.
