Teena Rose Steer was sentenced to six years in prison on Friday after pleading guilty to manslaughter in the death of her newborn daughter.
The case began in 2018 when RCMP responded to a home in the Kindersley area where a one-month old girl was in cardiac arrest.
She was later pronounced dead in the hospital.
An autopsy, performed the following day, determined the girl’s death was suspicious, RCMP said in a media release.
Steer was charged with second-degree murder following a 17-month investigation.
