A fire investigator says improper disposal of smoking material caused a fire Monday morning near St. Paul’s Hospital.
The Saskatoon Fire Department (SFD) was called at 2:34 a.m. to an apartment building at 202 Ave. P South. Crews arrived to find a third-floor balcony on fire.
Three people were found inside the suite. Two people were rescued, but a third was found dead.
The SFD said in a release there weren’t any smoke alarms inside the suite at the time of the fire.
Damage is estimated at $50,000.
