After technical difficulties prevented the province from providing updated COVID-19 numbers Monday, a reported 318 cases — 179 on Monday and 139 Tuesday — have been added to Saskatchewan’s COVID dashboard.
Of new cases reported Tuesday, 11 per cent were fully vaccinated, seven per cent were partially vaccinated, and 82 per cent were not vaccinated.
Active cases in the province currently sit at 1,625 and have not exceeded 1,600 since 1,662 were reported on May 23, 2021.
There are 100 hospitalizations due to COVID-19 in the province currently, the most since 104 were reported on June 11.
Four new deaths were reported in the province Tuesday, the most in a day since six were reported in late May.
Saskatoon continues to lead the province in active cases, with 413 of the province’s total 1,625 cases.
Weekly update
More than 14,012 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine were administered between Aug. 18 to 24.
A total of 1,291 new cases of the virus were reported in Saskatchewan during the same period, with 687 recoveries.
Six deaths and 17 cases confirmed as variants of concern were also reported.
As of Tuesday, 69 per cent of people in hospital are not fully vaccinated.
A look at the numbers
A total of 52,800 cases and 50,583 recoveries have been recorded in Saskatchewan.
New cases Tuesday were reported in all regions of the province: Saskatoon (46), far northwest (18), north central (16), northwest (13), far northeast (eight), southeast (six), central west (five), Regina (four), central east (two), far north central (two), northeast (two) and south central (one).
Deaths in the province now total 592. The deaths were reported in north central (two), Saskatoon (one) and Regina (one).
There are 100 COVID-19 patients in Saskatchewan hospitals, of which 86 are inpatients: Saskatoon (33), north central (19), Regina (17), northwest (four), south central (four), northeast (three), southwest (three), far northwest (two) and central west (one).
In intensive care units, there are 14 patients: Saskatoon (nine), north central (two), Regina (two) and south central (one).
The seven-day average of new daily cases in the province is 184.
More than one million COVID-19 tests have been completed in the province, with 2,044 new tests reported Tuesday.
Vaccination update
Total doses of COVID-19 vaccines administered in the province number 1,462,380. Only 452 new doses of the vaccine were reported Tuesday. Saskatchewan residents who are fully vaccinated number 686,298.
Of Saskatchewan residents aged 12 and older, 76 per cent have received their first dose and 67 per cent are fully vaccinated.
