What to expect at some Saskatoon locations after COVID measures lift Sunday

As Saskatchewan prepares to open up, 650 CKOM spoke to several locations in Saskatoon to see if they will follow provincial mandates or continue calling for the use of masks and social distancing.

Here’s what we learned.

Saskatoon Airport:

Some spaces in the Saskatoon airport are federally regulated and others are not. Public areas will be provincially mandated.

Masks are mandatory:

• Pre-boarding screening
• In line to board the aircraft
• On the aircraft
•  Post-security

Masks are not mandatory:

• Entering and exiting terminals
• At check-ins

Western Development Museum (all four locations):

• Masks will no longer be mandated, but are recommended in exhibits and general areas
• Masks are mandatory at indoor workshops and programs happening in enclosed spaces
• Interactive displays will begin reopening throughout the summer

Nutrien Wonderhub:

• Masks will no longer be mandated, but are recommended in all areas
• Physical distancing is encouraged
• Hand sanitizer and signage will remain in place

Landmark Cinemas across the province:

• Masks are recommended but not mandatory
• Staff will continue wearing masks
• Sanitization and cleaning will still be in place
• Shows before 6 p.m., Monday to Thursday will require physical distancing
• Shows after 6 p.m., Monday to Thursday and Friday to Sunday will be ‘full theatres’ with no regulations in place

Saskatoon Public Library:

• Facemasks will not be required for patrons. Although the restriction is lifted, wearing facemasks is encouraged
• Study and seating areas will reopen, with furniture returning by mid-week at all locations
• There won’t be time limits on library visits
• Public computers are available at each location (pre-pandemic time limits apply)
• Quarantining of returned materials will be discontinued
• The second floor at Frances Morrison Central Library will reopen (i.e., Children’s area, Fine Arts and The Gallery), though Local History services will remain by appointment only
• Food and drink will be permitted

Saskatoon Transit:

• Vehicles will be operating at full capacity
• Masks won’t be required

City Hall:

• There won’t be requirements to wear masks or to physically distance
• The building will continue to use barriers and the current level of increased cleaning
• Additional customer services previously available on other floors of City Hall may be available from the lobby starting Sept. 1
• City council meetings will resume in chambers in September

Saskatoon Forestry Farm and Zoo:

• Most areas of the zoo will be open without restrictions and the one-way path will be removed
• The meerkat display is now open; however, the Children’s Zoo will remain closed at this time
• The Affinity Learning Centre is closed for construction

Saskatoon leisure centres:

• Drop-in program capacity will increase
• Details on available programming will be available in the Leisure Guide starting Aug. 6

Riide Transportation:

• Masks will no longer be required in all Riide cabs
• Drivers will continue to thoroughly clean and sanitize vehicles
• It will be up to each individual driver should they wish to continue to wear their masks and keep their barrier devices in their vehicles

Goodlife Fitness (all Saskatchewan locations):

• Masking is a personal choice
• It’s recommended that members continue to keep two metres of distance while they are working out

Motion Fitness (all Saskatchewan locations):

• Masks will no longer be mandatory
• Fan use in classes will be permitted at the comfort of the participants
• Spin classes will continue in group fitness studios for now and will slowly transition back to the spin studios
• Sanitizing stations will remain and equipment cleaning before and after classes will continue
• Current spacing of three metres in the group fitness studios and two metres in the yoga studios will remain for social distancing and a slower transition back to normal.
• Hot yoga classes will return in the fall, but heat can be used to warm studios now that masking is not mandatory
