A Saskatoon police officer is recovering from an injury after a false alarm call turned violent.
Police were called to the 500 block of Avenue W South at around 10:30 p.m. Sunday evening for a fire alarm.
The investigation showed that someone had created a false alarm by pulling the fire alarm.
A fight broke out when officers attempted to arrest the suspect, prompting police to shoot him twice with a conducted energy weapon (CEW) before he was finally brought into custody.
The suspect and officer both went to the hospital.
The 37-year-old man is expected to appear in court today charged with assaulting a police officer, mischief and weapons offences.
