A 21-year-old Alberta man drowned Sunday in the Swift Current Creek near Simmie.
According to the RCMP, officers from the Shaunavon detachment got a call at about 5 p.m., that a man had gone missing while swimming with friends at a recreation area near the hamlet of Simmie.
The Mounties were told the man had jumped off a bridge, went underwater and didn’t resurface.
RCMP officers, members of the Swift Current Fire Department and Ministry of Environment conservation officers searched for the man using boats. His body was recovered Sunday evening at 7:15 p.m.
The Saskatchewan Coroners Service is now investigating the drowning.
Simmie is about 65 kilometres southwest of Swift Current.
