There’s almost nothing left of the Meadowlark playground in south Saskatoon.
According to firefighters, it was destroyed by a fire that was deliberately set on Thursday.
The playground is located near Clarence Ave. S, on Calder Cres. Firefighters were called out around 7 a.m. and discovered it burning. Flames were nearly seven feet high.
After crews put the fire out, an inspector was called out to investigate and found evidence of an accelerant like gas or diesel used.
The structure has since been taken down and the area levelled. Replacement options are being looked at and the community will be updated.
Anyone with information on the incident is asked to contact Saskatoon Police or the Saskatoon Fire Department.
