MONTREAL — Joseph Blandisi scored twice and Cayden Primeau stopped 22 shots as the Laval Rocket topped the Belleville Senators 5-1 on Friday in the American Hockey League season opener for both teams.
Xavier Ouellet, Lukas Vejdemo and Joel Teasdale also scored for the Rocket (1-0-0), AHL affiliate of the Montreal Canadiens.
Logan Shaw was the lone skater to find the back of the net for the Senators (0-1-0), Ottawa’s AHL club.
Joey Daccord stopped 31-of-35 shots for Belleville.
The two clubs will meet again Saturday at Montreal’s Bell Centre.
