It was a fire so big, the flames could be spotted from nearby Ring Road early Wednesday morning.
Regina Fire and Protective Services said a call came in just before 5:30 a.m., and when crews arrived at the Argyle Park home in Regina’s north end just minutes later the home was fully engulfed.
“The house was fully involved on the main floor and coming through the roof,” said deputy fire chief David Kinvig, adding the flames were coming through the windows as well.
Five people were home at the time of the fire and all were taken to hospital by EMS.
“As far as we can tell, so far, only smoke inhalation, but we’re not aware of anything else,” Kinvig explained, saying it was not known at that point if any children were taken to hospital.
Five crews, totaling 20 firefighters, were on scene Wednesday morning and had it under control within an hour and a half.
“The roof is weak but stable enough for us to go inside,” Kinvig said when asked about the integrity of the home.
By 7 a.m., crews had begun to pack up. Kinvig said inspectors were en route later in the morning to determine what caused the blaze. He couldn’t speculate on the extent of the damages.
